From mockup to reality!

Hi, we are happy to show you these screenshots with an ingame building and some of the materials we prepared (and are still preparing!) for your future use in the game.

What do you think guys?

  1. Awesome!!! How would a player switch between placing an object (pillar, brick, etc.) in the collision layer and the layer behind that?

  2. I actually have a question as well. How high would we be able to build our structures would you say?

  3. @MrTubaPerson, I’m guessing it’s built into the item. So only items that can be put in the backround are actually in the backround, and vice-versa.

  4. @MrTubaPerson @ahamling27: that is almost correct, building materials just go on back layer before and then on front layer (you can’t place a build material on front without the back one filled), while special blocks like columns always go on front layer but they don’t have collision with player. This allows you to customize the background of tiles that have special blocks in front..

  5. This is not defined yet, it will be based purely on testing. The sky size can be easily adjusted with a hard-coded setting, it is just a matter of memory trade off: some older devices wouldn’t be able to handle bigger worlds so we’ll see it later in testing..:)

  6. I have a question, when you get to the bottom of the map will there be some sort of block to keep you from mining down? (like in Minecraft there is bed rock)

  7. Amazing! I’ve told a couple of my buddies already. Same question as Arien though: will there be enemies? I’ve seen the health bar, is that just for fall damage? Every minecraft-inspired game on the app store so far has failed to add limited resources, crafting, and enemies. You guys are the closest to perfection. All you need is baddies 🙂

  8. Of course! Their working on them as we speak. You can see one of the enemies about 9 blog posts down from here, in a picture. Those skulls are enemy mobs. ; )

  9. Some mobs are sketched down and in mockups, howewer, these are not implemented yet.

We are doing our best to add everything we’d like, but we can’t assure anything at the moment. We are a 2 man Indie Factory after all.. and the deadline is near!

After the release, we will add constant content updates.

  10. Oh yeah, I forgot about those skulls from an earlier blog. @pixbits: hope I didn’t sound demanding. I understand how hard you two are working and I love how often you update this blog…it shows how much you care about fans. Consider 1 copy of this game already sold. keep up the great work.

  12. There is no maximum at the moment, how much do you think it’s reasonable? 😉 It’s just a matter of space for the number onto the item slot (so I guess 999 could be enough).

  13. Ok ! It’s pretty cool to have so many possibilities. The columns are nice too, there will be in my house. :p

  14. Ya Pixbits i think 999 is a very good choice for the max stack. 🙂 Thanks for all the updates you guys really care about your game and the community (here is another 🙂 you guys deserve it!

  15. i think 999 is a great choice. it gives you lots of space so your inventory dosent fill up so quickly:)

also i was curious about the day/night cycle. like how long is the cycle

  16. do tools have a life span. like in minecraft different tools have a different durability so u dont just need to make one of each tool

  18. Hiya pixbits. We talked on twitter. I’m 2.
I’m so hyped for this… I’ve told like 20 people about it already! I agree that it should be realsed but still. Would you have a bad game earlier or a finished game later???

  19. Their not sure yet. They said it all depends on testing to see how the different ipod and iphone models handle it.

  20. i think that like 30 blocks would be good. it gives you room to build but not so little room that you cant build big buildings

  21. I’m not sure if you covered it yet in a previous video, but can you destroy boulders in this game? Those boulderdash style rocks seem to be tunnel-ruiners for those who want to build one block wide tunnels.

  22. Oh, and just a suggestion, the ability to equip your character with items and accessories that add buffs seems pretty cool, sorta like the cloud in a bottle and the hermes boots in terraria. And also, maybe you should add liquids to the game with the same movement type as those “Boulderdash style rocks”. By the way, I love how you’ve already implemented different biomes like that mushroom biome and all of my friends are anticipating the arrival of your game. Thank You so much for making such an amazing game!

  23. Hey I didn’t know if you guys thought about this, but it seems in each video when your underground you can still see bright as day. What if it got darker and darker as you went down therefore requiring a lanter, torch, etc. You probably have a reason for this but just a thought 🙂 STILL PUMPER

PS: Please keep it in the iPod 2g range! Just a personal request 🙂 Cause im OLD-SCHOOL

  24. *you’re* and *lantern* Because Im So EXCITED for this game my brain blacked out and all I could think about was Junk Jack, so I forgot how to spell.

  25. By the way PixBits…a fair price for this game, based on what I’m seeing, and what people would pay is about $2.99. Personally I’d pay 4.99 at the most, but I dont thing your average Jack (Pun Intended) would pay that much.

“Good day sir…I SAID GOOD DAY!” – Willy Wonka…I think?

  26. OH another question…Is it gonna be THAT easy to mine blocks. We see in the videos and your inventory it takes 1 second to mine a block and in your inventory you have like 125 of each block. Will the difficulty of the mine depend on the block or will they all be the same or does it depend on the tool you’re using?

  27. still lovin it!

i have a question; now since we’re in september month and we’re movin on closer to the release. have u set any date? or temporary date for the release?

    keep up the hard work!

  29. Hey pixbits, Junk Jack looks like an awesome game undoughtedly the best ios game ever made 🙂 But i have a question, i noticed the gamecenter icon, what will you be able to do with gamecenter?

  30. Maybe there’s GC achievement? Like beat 15 easy challenges? Hmm… I hope it’s not multiplayer, I despise GC multiplayer.

    Like

  31. No multiplayer is implemented, Jack is the only programmer, and he’s already doing miracles here 😀 .To be honest we haven’t planned and we can’t afford any mp support. Gamecenter is purely for achievements and future things, like leaderboards for specified tasks.

  32. I don’t really care about multiplayer ad long as there is plenty of stuff to do. And also will the be enemies in the first release or in later updates?

  33. I have a quick question, will we be able to equip accesories to our characters with items we find or craft?

  34. Kind of going on what MacMarlon said, I noticed something in a previous mockup that looked like a weaving machine of some sort, would it be possible to use this to create different or maybe customizable outfits or skins of the character as well?
