Hi guys, we are here after a quite long long blog silence (sorry!)to give you the registration form that will let you apply for beta testing our game Junk Jack Mining Game. You can find it at this address. Just a courtesy: if you are interested in beta testing as a press operator please specify it in the nickname field (by specifying the address of your website), so that we know it.. thanks 😉

Since you can’t apply twice for same UDID or email, if something goes wrong (eg. you press enter but some field were incomplete), just write it down here as a comment, we’ll delete the entry to let you apply again! You can even send us an email at pixbits@gmail.com with subject “junk jack beta apply” and all the required fields.

We can’t assure to let everyone in, but we will do our best to make you guys happy!

The game is progressing well, and lots of ideas, tweaks, improvements have been added, and we are continuing to do that, every day. We changed some of our ideas during the development, so we actually added some cool features and disabled some other that are more suitable for updates (mostly because of debugging time needed for them).

We hope to be able to satisfy your appetites with an updated video, as soon as we’ll have some time to handle these issues too, in addition to development itself. 🙂

    Also I just wanted to say I checked out some of bright primates music and they sound quite good 😀 (I love that type of retro gameboyish music)

For those of you that are asking: we’ll take something like 20-30 testers and we’ll decide who starting in next days, also because we still need some days to polish the application for this beta testing phase. As you probably understood we are getting slightly over the deadline we have decided but this just because, as always, we are two, and although that we managed to implement almost everything we had in mind for this first release 🙂 Sorry for that, and thanks for applications, keep them up! 😛

  76. Please add multiplayer!!!! All i ask for is a 2 player server. So me and my friend could play. I am begging you to add this. But make it through Gamecenter, so you can play over long distances. Please add this!!! You could just have both devices download the map and then play together on that map. And you would have to add some sort of way to comunicate to the other player. Thanks!!

  95. But you have to remember a lot of people will think that this game is a gay little terraria clone and won’t try it or they will try it and give it bad ratings. That’s just my guess and I hope I’m wrong.

  96. I wouldn’t say a clone of Terraria, similar, but from the looks of it unique in its own right. I’m really excited about it because of this. I really enjoyed Terraria (and I run my own servers for it) but I’m looking forward to something that is more mobile.

  113. They arent just going to add multiplayer. I hope you do know that. It’s a team of two and they have just finished basically making the game. Multiplayer would also take along time to develope, so don’t get your hopes Sizle.

  115. Suppose torches were made with coal. Then the light on the helmet could be fueled by coal. This would be useful so you would have to place torches.

  116. True, but it would take more coal to use on the helmet when you could just put a torch down and it would be lit for ever! And they should make it so you can chanfe ur person and cloths, hair and so on.

  119. I think that a 4 player co-op mode would be nice. Select a few friends on gamecenter, invite them, and they can join your world. I think that for it to work well, they would need to upload the map onto the server for 24 hours, then download it back to the ipod at the end. That way you could keep your map after playing co-op, while they still have server space.

This is what pixbits said on Touch Arcade as of today. “We haven’t decided beta testers yet, as we wrote on the blog we’re polishing things to be ready to actually start beta testing so we’re busy with that at the moment. But don’t worry, as soon as we extracted them, winners will be warned by mail.. we would like to be faster than this but we’re just two, so you have to be patient with us!”- pixbits

  138. Because Pixbits said they are Going to release it on the last day or september, the 30th.. And it takes anywere from 2-5 days for apple to put it in the appstore.

  145. will you guys add a jump button because if there isnt one how would we avoid enemies? we couldnt, so we would keep dying. or you could make it so you slide your finger up to jump or something so the screen isnt cluttered.

  162. Maybe they should make it so if you swipe up you jump. Just so you can avoid enemies. But have an automatic jump for climbing 1 block tall hills.

  171. I would wait until the full game is released. Otherwise who would you play with? That said I think that a 4 player co-op sort of mode would be very nice. Maybe some built in screen recording code so that we can make lets plays of the game. The screen recording would work by drawing to a file before the screen and recording at the same time.

  172. I dont think we need to make “lets plays” but i agree with you when you said that 4 player multiplayer would be great. i think that they should add a way to text each other through the game. So there could be group projects. 🙂

  194. 5. What about older devices?
    We tested Junk Jack on the iPod Touch 3gen and even on the iPhone 3G. There are no problems for the Touch (and consequently the iPhone 3Gs), game is quite playable even on iPhone 3G (which is the less performant iOS4.0 capable device) so even the Touch 2gen should be fine! (We will update this as soon as the close beta testing will have helped us). The real requirement is iOS4.0.

  195. 5. Will there be multiplayer support?
    Not for now and it is not even planned at the moment. Multiplayer is something really tricky, especially on mobile platforms so that it would be a long tale that will be considered just if we’ll have a big customer base.

    If anyone CBA to look here is a summary

    Price == $2.99 (so £1.99)
    Multiplayer? == no and none planned at the moment
    2 gen iphones/ipods? == yes it should be fine (requires iOS 4.0+
    iPad edition == focusing on iPhone/iPod however it is plausible in future update, 2x works fine though
    Updates with new features == yes they’re not gameloft :L
    Release date == around end of September when it is completed
    What is Junk Jack? == Junk Jack is a exploration, mining and crafting sandbox 2D game for iOS
    Water? == not atm but it could come in future update
